Edha School is a kindergarten and primary school. The school practices child-centric alternative pedagogy, aiming at holistic development of each child.
The school offers a learning environment that is joyous and fulfilling for the children, where each child feels a sense of warmth and belonging. How we learn is integral to what we learn. Learning by doing, learning through play, learning through the practice of mindfulness, learning by relating to both the inner world of imagination and the outer world of everyday reality, children explore the world and develop their own agency as learners.
“Curiosity has its own reason for existing. One cannot help but be in awe when he contemplates the mysteries of eternity, of life, of the marvellous structure of reality… The point is to develop the childlike inclination for play.” Einstein
A foundation is laid so that children not only learn various subjects but also become active lifelong learners. Individual attention is paid to each child but at the same time it is ensured that the children learn together as a group and move forward with each other. No one feels or carries a sense of being left behind.
“The whole of life, from the moment you are born to the moment you die, is a process of learning”. Jiddu Krishnamurti
The teachers and facilitators constantly strive to integrate the philosophy of education both in their work and personal lives. Each is encouraged to chart and follow her own path of self-growth, in addition to the mentoring and regular training programs at the school.
The school follows its own curriculum, which is seen less as a product and more as a process. Though the curriculum is created at the school, to serve the learning purpose outlined above, it is also done keeping in mind the guidelines provided in the National Curriculum Framework (NCF 2005) for school education in India.
Mid-day meal is given to the children at the school. The food is prepared with personal care keeping in mind a healthy and balanced nutritional diet for the children.
At Edha School the space of learning is a sacred space and the act of learning is a sacred journey.
